What is AutoDiscover and how it works in Exchange 2007 & 2010. Internally and Externally?

Hi Everyone
I have recently installed a Exchange 2013 on Server 2008 R2 into my production environment which already has an Exchange 2007 server running off Server 2003. I have made sure all pre-requisites for co-existence mode were installed.
I have created test mailboxes on my 07 exchange which I successfully migrated to 2013 however once migrated I am no longer able to send from these mailboxes or connect any outlook client to them. I am able to receive and access the mailbox via 2013 owa.
I have researched and created new send connectors which for some reason no longer appear in the queue viewer. I am having the same problem as others where mails sent via owa find their way into the drafts folder and never submit to the queue.
I can confirm the below:
All exchange services are running
Checked DNS settings on the Exchange 2013 server
Two problems I am trying to resolve here:
Sending Emails both internal and externally
Outlook connections be able to connect outlook clients to the new exchange server

Hi there,
I was wondering if in a Multi Role Setup of Exchange 2013 there is a guideline in what order you should reboot your Roles in case you need to reboot?
For Example:
1. restart Mailbox role
2. restart CAS role
or
1. restart CAS role
2. restart Mailbox role
Also is there a guideline rebooting Exchange 2013 together with your DC's? I tried searching online and in Forums, but no luck yet. Kind Regards...
When I try to access OWA from any client I get an HTTP 400 Bad Request error.
Accessing ECP works fine.
I have recreated the virtual directories - still no good.
IE returns this error.
Firefox says "Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete".
What is wrong?
Hello,
We are currently running Exchange 2013 SP1 co-existence with Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup 4.
Our Outlook Anywhere and OWA are pointed towards Exchange 2013 CAS servers.
User mailboxes are still on Exchange 2010.
Outlook Anywhere with Exchange 2010 mailboxes are able to connect via Outlook 2010.
The only issue is when Outlook Anywhere is being used from Internet or from Internal network and user goes in Outlook 2010 -> File -> Automatic replies get the following error: -
"Your automatic reply settings cannot be saved. The server might be unavailable, or your automatic reply message might have exceeded the size limit on the server"
This only occurs if connection goes via Exchange 2013 SP1 CAS server. It was working before and it seems it just broke down since we upgraded to Exchange 2013 SP1. In HTTPProxy EWS logs on Exchange 2013 SP1 CAS server I see this when I re-create the issue on Outlook 2010.

I have checked and double checked using https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/ and there are no issues in "EWS".
It works fine if user mailbox is on Exchange 2013 Sp1.
I was wondering if anyone has co-existence of Exchange 2013 SP1 and Exchange 2010 SP3 could you please test Exchange 2010 mailbox via Outlook Anywhere and see if you could re-create this issue. After spending a week on this I wonder if it is some sort of bug in Exchange 2013 SP1.
Thanks,
Raman
I'm very new at this, and need some advice.
I got 1 AD server, who is my domain controller.
And on the other server i have tried to install Exchange 2013. But dosen't work ofc.
Seems like i have to log on to the Exchange server with Enterprise admin(?)
But that doesen't work. I get this message: there are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.
I have configured DHCP.
Any advice for a nub?
HI all,
I just need help putting together a script that gives me a report based on mailbox size and domain used. So for instance, all mailboxes under domain1.com and the mailbox size of that user
I have found a script that will give me user names and mailbox size
Get-MailboxStatistics-Server'SERVERNAME'|where{$_.ObjectClass-eq “Mailbox”}|Sort-ObjectTotalItemSize-Descending| ft @{label=”User”;expression={$_.DisplayName}},@{label=”TotalSize(MB)”;expression={$_.TotalItemSize.Value.ToMB()}}-auto>>“c:\Temp\mailbox_size.txt”
And one that gives me users filtered by domain name:
Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited | Select-Object Name, PrimarySMTPAddress, @{Name="EmailAddresses";Expression={$_.EmailAddresses -cmatch "smtp"}} | Where-Object {($_.PrimarySMTPAddress -like "*domain3.ch*") -or ($_.EmailAddresses -like "*domain3.ch*")} > c:\mailboxes.txtBut I just cant figure out how to get them to work together, thanks for any and all help!
Hi
After exchange server 2013 sp1 was applied
owa ecp etc stopped working the logon screen and website come up but after that redirects to page below with
with error
This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.

We currently have Replication Manager Exchange Interface service using the domain admin account. This service executes Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2010 commands for Replication Manager.
We would like to change this. I am not certain why this service has domain admin rights. I cannot find any white papers stating this is a requirements. All other Exchange services use Local System or Network Service.
Will there be any issues if we change this to use either Local System or Network as log on as for this service??
Thanks
exchange 2013 sp1,win 2012
protocol rpc/http, SSL- yes, avg response 40
10 mailboxes with size 25 GB, RAM 12 Gb.
No matter intranet or external network
I don't know, it is by default or something with configuration.
Then i add new mailbox to outlook in cached mode then 1 GB download speed are about 5-8 mbps. So 5 gb and more need to waiitttt...
Proccesor usage are about 5-10% for store.exe when start download mailboxe.
Then i move messages form local outlook pst to exchange- the same slow move.
No matter outlok 2013, 2010, 2007 all the same from different pc.
test local network data copy to server and it is normal.
test imap caching- normal fast.
I've noticed that the Exchange 2013 install created two data collector sets within Performance Monitor:
These sets are creating daily log files saved in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Logging\Diagnostics\DailyPerformanceLogs that are about 500MB in size, which are filling up our system volume.
I've tried stopping them, but they get restarted automatically. I also tried deleting them, but they get recreated automatically. Is there a way to disable these? We have a 3rd party tool that we use for performance monitoring and would like to avoid having to delete these log files on a regular basis to keep our system volume from filling up.
As a workaround, I've changed the path where the log files get saved to a non existent drive letter, but would still like to disable the Data Collector Sets completely.
Thanks,
-Cory
In technet and blog exchange 2010 network port requirement are available. But i didn't found Exchange server 2013 network port requirement
Please give me the link and details of Exchange 2013 network port requirement.
The issue started earlier today when in my production (three people on it) exchange 2013 i made a change to the default website while logged into ecp.
I pointed https://website/owa under OWA and https://website/owa under ECP.
I tried to remove and re- add the directories though exchange shell (locally) without any success.
This is what i get when i try to log into https://website/owa
https://website/owa/?bO=1 the tab just says loading
when i try
https://website/ecp/ i get to the exchange admin center enter user name and password
then i get https://website/owa/auth.owa and its a blank page
the ssl wildcard certificate is in place.
Any help is appreciated.
RWS.Proxy and ECP.Proxy health sets are both failing. In both of the errors, I find the following:
[000.000] Starting HTTP request task [000.000] Waiting 59000 ms [000.000] Issuing GET against https://localhost/ecp/ [000.000] Awaiting GET response [000.000] Performing SSL validation [000.000] Performing SSL validation [000.000] Failed with exception: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.
[000.000] Starting HTTP request task [000.000] Waiting 59000 ms [000.000] Issuing GET against https://localhost/ecp/ReportingWebService/ [000.000] Awaiting GET response [000.000] Performing SSL validation [000.000] Performing SSL validation [000.000] Failed with exception: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.
We require SSL on all connections. We use a third party certificate with multiple SANs. Since the probe is trying to use https://localhost, it fails because the name doesn't match.
I figure I have a few options: first, is there a way to change the URL that the probe uses to check. This seems to me to be the 'rightest' way I could fix this. Second could I alter the binding of the site so that the localhost hostname uses a dedicated, self signed, trusted cert? Last, is there any way to simply disable the specific probes? We're a single server low volume setup and I'm not convinced that I need the probes anyway.
IS this a common issue? Outside of the warnings that SCOM throws at me, it is also causing a large volume of logs to be generated.

Hi,
Over the weekend i installed SP1 on our exchange 2013 DAG. Now users are getting an authentication prompt when opening outlook. This didn't happen prior to SP1.
When testing email auto configuration in outlook it prompts for auth, typing in my creds it goes through ok.
It looks like it getting a 401
I'm not sure what has changed but its very frustrating.
Any Ideas?
Hi All,
How to find all users last mail sent time and date in one database,
