Hello,

Every other day at 6 am (GMT +1) our exchange server generates an error in the global monitoring event log. I have tried overriding the probe using both add-serveroverride and add-globaloverride to disable this probe/monitor, but it keeps returning.

I have checked maxsize on all connectors and they all match.

Regards,

Exchange 2013 ECP redirects to OWA

Dear Collegues,

after that I ve installed Exchange 2k13 on my win server 2012 std, I am not able to reach the EAC, when I tried to enter this URL: https://servername/ecp or https://servername/ecp?ExchClientVer=15 it redirects me always to OWA. I ve also tried this solution http://www.telnetport25.com/2012/11/quick-tipcreating-an-icon-on-the-desktop-for-the-exchange-2013-eac/ with no effect, also this http://lyncdude.com/2013/02/07/cannot-access-exchange-contorl-panel-ecp-in-exchange-server-2013/, but what really strange is, that my powershell cant recognize for ex. this syntax -  Get-owavirtualdirectory | fl or Set-owavirtualdirectory -identity “owa <Default Web site>” -FormAuthentication:$true at all.

I am really confused with all of that Exchange 2k13 installation and configuration, from the beginning there are so many problems.

Please can anyone help me?

Windows XP Machines Always Prompt for Credentials (Exchange 2013, Outlook 2010)

I am running Exchange 2013 on Server 2012 Datacenter (VM).  Windows 7 clients with Outlook 2010 work fine.  Windows XP clients with Outlook 2010 prompt for credentials (user name and password) each time Outlook is started, and checking the "Remember my password" box does not prevent this from happening the next time.  The "Always prompt for logon credentials" checkbox on the "Security" tab of the "More Settings" section of the Exchange account is not checked.  I have found a myriad of posts with similar issues, but they all seem to have to do with SBS/Exchange 2007, and I haven't come across something that works as a solution for me.  One suggested certificate issues, and I was having certificate security warnings, but I got that resolved.  I am hopefuly that the fact that this only happens on Windows XP will be telling.

Exchange 2013 SP1 and Windows 2012 vs Windows 2012 R2

Hi,

We are already installed Exchange 2013 CU3 on Windows 2012 server in production.  Now Exchange 2013 SP1 is released that supports Windows 2012 R2 but we can not upgrade Windows 2012 to Windows 2012 R2 while Exchange 2013 running on server.

At this point if we decide to upgrade Windows 2012 to R2 we may need to uninstall Exchange 2013 and then upgrade Windows 2012 to R2 and then re-install Exchange 2013 re-configure and re-test.  We have 6 mailboxes and 4 CAS servers.

I was just wondering is there any real benefit anyone can think of that we upgrade from Windows 2012 to R2? Or I can just keep running Windows 2012 with Exchange 2013?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Raman

DeliverToMailboxAndForward

Exchange 2010, SP3

My user is being audited.  I need for the auditor to receive the user's mail without any knowledge.  I have set the DeliverToMailboxAndForward option to true.

When a meeting invite is sent to the user, the auditor is receiving it in their calendar.  Does the sender receive the Meeting Forward Notification email?  If so, how can I hide that?  RemoveForwadedMeetingNotifications will also remove any forwarded meetings that the user forwards.

Thanks

Restoration of Mailbox to another user

Good afternoon all

Exchange: 2013

Outlook: 2013

I have yet another question relating to the recovery of a mailbox. What I require is the ability to restore a mailbox of a user from a recovery database to a temporary user account without a mailbox.

Basically what has happened, is a user has deleted their mailbox rules and I am trying to recover them by restoring a backup of their mailbox to an RDB and then restoring this mailbox to a newly created temporary user account so I can then export the rules and get the user to import them. Is this possible or is there a better way?

I do not require assistance with the restore of a mailbox database to a recovery database, I am more than comfortable doing this. It's just when I got to the point of restoring the mailbox from the recovery database I had created I was unsure of how to proceed.

As always, any help and advice I can be given will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Performance counter definition file is invalid

I've been trying to resolve some of the many issues I've run into after installing Exchange 2013 CU2 as a fresh install before migrating my users from 2007.  We'd run into this bug that was generating a ton of event logs for missing performance counters:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2870416

It includes a PowerShell script to reregister all of the performance counters that come with Exchange 2013.  When running it on my servers, it generated an error for one of the performance counter definition files.

53 C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Setup\Perf\InfoWorkerMultiMailboxSearchPerformanceCounters.xml
New-PerfCounters : The performance counter definition file is invalid.

I opened the files in Notepad and this one didn't have any obvious errors or differences in structure compared to the other files.  An internet search showed no one else reporting this error processing this file that I could find.  I'd be curious if anyone else running CU2 is able to register this performance counter.

Exchange 2013 Store Worker Process in the same DAG uses random ports and consume a lot of bandwith

I discovered that between mailbox servers  2013 in the same DAG , there is a huge traffic between random ports "RPC ports" more specifically related to Store worker process, this process is used to coordinate the activation of database copies on mailbox servers, we have a situation where we need to compress this traffic over WAN, the device can compress only when we specify the port, is there any way to fix these RPC ports, and if we do can this RPC traffic be compressed.

Exchange VSS writer is missing

Hello

I am running Exchange 2013 sp1 on windows 2008 R2 sp1, in a two node DAG. When i run vssadmin list writers on node1 i can see "Exchange writer" when i run the same command on node2 i do not see the Exchange writer. I have even tried restarting node2. Also on node2 i see the below event. When i run get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus all DB's and content index are healthy, and the DAG is healthy. The DAG has one network that is used for MAPI and Replication.

RPC request to the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service for log truncation failed for database DB2\node1. Error: Failed to notify source server 'node2' about the local truncation point. Hresult: 0xc8000713. Error: Unable to find the file.

Used OWA to Recover Deleted Items but can't view recovered items

$

I recently ran a recovery for Deleted Items of a departed employee using the Recover Deleted Items function of OWA (I'm running Exchange 2010 SP1 on a single server).  The recovery appeared to work BUT the recovered emails do not appear in the Deleted Items folder of the user's account.  The mailbox properties on Exchange show 65,000 items but there are 20 items showing in the Deleted Items folder both on OWA and an Outlook 2010 client.  Using -getmailboxstatistics on Exchange shows the TotalDeletedItemSize to be 3.654GB of a 3.94GB total, meaning the items are there but, again, I can't see them at all.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks,

Dave

Exchange 365 and in-place eDiscovery

$

I created dozens of in-place eDiscovery search in powershell for the users who have left the company, but we need to retain their mailboxes for legal compliance reasons. The powershells looked like this:

New-MailboxSearch -name "User1" -SourceMailboxes user1@domain.com -ExcludeDuplicateMessages $true -InPlaceHoldEnabled $true -ItemHoldPeriod 255

And when I go into the EAC> Compliance Mgmt> in-place eDiscovery, I can see all of them but their status says "Status: Search Not Started."  So I used the EAC to edit one, and check if I missed something, but everything from the PS script is correct, and when I clicked Save, again without actually changing anything, the search did start at that point! I looked at a few other cmdlets, and I found the start-mailboxsearch. So I issued:

start-MailboxSearch -Identity "User1"

But that comes back with "Unable to execute the task. Reason: TargetMailbox is required for copying messages returned by the search." So why am I able to use the EAC eDiscovery portion without having to specify TargetMailbox, but when I use Powershell I do have specify it?

POP3 access

$

Hi,

I am sadly not familiar with pop3 settings in an exchange environment, so i was hoping someone could help me out a bit :)

We have a client who uses some old software that only supports sending mail thru unencrypted pop3 access. I'm assuming this means that the default port 110 and SMTP port 25 will be used. There are no options in client software to change this.

Since the client would like to use the software to connect to a certain mailbox in the Exchange environment using pop3 access, i would have to enable this on the Exchange Server. The pop3 services are running, and the users mailbox is enabled for pop access. What i am having trouble with is configuring the following settings:

-UnEncryptedorTSLSettings : 0.0.0.0:110

-InternalConnectionSettings: xxx.xxx.xx:110

-ExternalConnectionSettings: xx.xxx.xx:110

-Logintype: PlainTextLogin

Now, the -ExternalConnectionSettings is really not important since this is only going to be used internally at the clients site. Put for own testing purposes i would like to temporarily enable this.

I'm a bit of loss of what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ECP does not accept valid password

$

I installed Exchange 2013. I ran ECP to create new rules, etc., and all worked fine. I then created a new certificate using ECP, submitted it to my Server 2012 CA, and installed it in ECP (completed the pending process and it showed valid). I stayed in ECP for a few more tasks, then exited.

I can still get into OWA and access the Exchange Server from intra- and internet Outlook clients but when I try to get into ECP (the ECP webpage does load) it rejects the login: I enter the name and password and ECP responds with a refresh of the webpage, keeping the name and blanking out the password.  I would think this a certificate problem but, as noted, I can access OWA from the same machine on which I am trying to access ECP.

Exchange 2013 Healthset HubAvailabilityProbe issue

Hi there

We are having problem with Exchange 2013 Health probe. We have six on premises Exchange servers in 2 datacenters. Four of them are in DAG cluster and two have CAS role. We also use SCOM 2012 for monitoring. We regularly get alert from Exchange HubAvailability probe:

At the same time we don't notice any problem with mail flow. I suggest that some email may stuck in queue but we can't verify which one. What should we do in this situation? Ignore alert or investigate what cause it or may be change probe settings?

I apprecitate for any help and ideas!
