Exchange mailboxes and ADMT

Hello,

I am in the early stages of planning an AD domain migration for one part of our business.

Effectively we have the following set up:

Root forest domain (ParentCompany.localnet)

Child domain (ChildCompany.localnet)

There is an existing two way trust between the two domains.

The plan is to migrate all AD objects in the child domain into the forest root domain, and eventually remove the child domain.

All Exchange mailboxes for employees in both domains are hosted in a single Exchange 2013 organization hosted in ParentCompany.localnet

My query is - what will happen to the mailbox of an employee in the child domain once the AD account for the user has been migrated to the forest root domain? Will the mailbox association be update to reflect the change, or will the mailbox need to be "re-attached" to the object in the new domain?

Address list is not update members in an Exchange Online address list in Office365

Hi All,

I need your help

I'm migrating exchange 2013 to exchange online. but when I created a new custom address list on exchange online but It did show members inside.

Because I created the address list after user syncing to exchange online, so I understand that I need to resync all object in AD to O365 again to update members into the address list.

But After updating object info ( in my case, I use externalcustomattribute1 for updating each object) and resync, the address list is still empty.

I also check that the filter is working or not by using cmdlets and It shows all members in Powershell but not on UI.

SPF, DKIM, DMARC?

We have been receiving a lot of spoofed and phishing emails lately and I’d like to see if I can do something about it on our Exchange 2013 Standard server and I have a couple of questions in doing so. 

I’ve read on the web that if we setup a SPF record (which we do), DKIM, and a DMARCin our DNS record it should help. 

  1. If we were to add the DKIM and DMARC entries to our DNS what would be the con in doing it, if any?
  2. What would happen if an email comes from someone that doesn’t use SPF, DKIM, or DMARC? Would we receive the email or would it bounce back to the sender with an error?

SourceContext: ExplicitilyDiscarded - Email Not Found

Hi,

I have an issue where emails sent from a scanner are showing "ExplicitilyDiscarded" and never arrive in the recipients mailbox.  I've checked the queue and had them run a few more tests and 1 server failed 2x, another server failed 1x and actually sent the email 1x.  I put the email in a whitelist but it still get's discarded with no other infromation

I attached the tracelog, is there anyway to identify why the mailbox server is dropping the email?  I've checked event viewer for application but not seeing any issues at first glance.  Any help is appreciated.

Need to modify server response to EHLO / HELO

Presently the 220 banner shows the FQDN correctly.

However the 250 Helo Response is showing the internal hostname with the .local suffix

220 mx1.FQDN.com
ehlo me.com
250-EXCH1.domain.local Hello [198.84.231.11]

I would like the EXCH1.arp.local to respond with the same FQDN as the 220 banner "mx1.FQDN.com"

Previous versions of Exchange seem to have sections to specify the FQDN for EHLO / HELO response.

Undeliverable: Inbound proxy probe

Hoping someone can help - I've had to disabled Microsoft Exchange Health Manager since installing Exchange 2013 SP1.

We're getting hundreds of Undeliverable: Inbound proxy probe emails in our spam (quarantine) folder.

We've tried adding the inboundproxy@contoso.com email address as a Bypass Spam Filter transport rule - restarted the transport rule, but they still come through.

I've also ran this command in EPS: Add-ContentFilterPhrase –Influence BadWord –Phrase “Inboundproxy” - restarted transport service - and they still appear.

Only when we stop the Health Manager service do they stop coming through.

Really wish we never installed SP1 just yet - unfortunately we don't have the money to build a testing environment either :(

Can't Restore disbaled Mailbox

i have disabled the Mailbox, when I tried to connect mailbox it did not gives me to connect with same user, when I checked using the command Get-User the recipient type of the user is Mail user, how can I change Mail User to User or UserMailbox?

Good Day, 

Anyone encounter Load Quota error while using Exchange 2013 in MBX & CAS.

Below is the error.

Switch to Azure Only Exch Admin

Hi, I'm working with a client that switched to Exchange Online a few years ago. To get the migration going they configured a hybrid Exch setup with the Exchange 2010 premise server.  Once all the mailboxes were migrated they kept the on-prem installed as it was required to create accounts to sync to EOL.  Now the software is out of date and there is no need to keep Exch management in local AD world.  

Question:  How to go about switching control to EOL/AAD portal administration entirely?  Currently running AAD Connect to sync AD changes.  In fact, they would just as soon eliminate the local AD creation control to cloud portal completely?  Can anyone steer me to a roadmap or documentation?    Thanks!

DAG-cluster for 3 note other site

Hello all,

I've 3 exchange mail.

2 in VietNam

+ 192.168.30.7

+ 192.168.30.3

1 in Japan

+ 192.168.60.13

I've configured DAG failover for 3 note. 3 server connect via VPN (router cisco with one leasedline internet). 

The problems: when the connection VPN drop or 2 exchange in VN are die. The server exchange in the Japan is not stables.

(Can be sent the new mail but can not get mail). 

Desire: If have any issue in VietNam, the exchange mail in Japan site still stable.

Could please help me this issue?

Hi,

I have executed script Export-ModernPublicFolderStatistics.ps1 and it is giving error message, however, beside the fact that i have deleted the folders with unsupported symbol "/" and running repadmin / syncall /APed but still it is showing error...

I am doing Exchange migration from 2013 to Exchange 2016, but when I click Migration from the EAC I get the following error "A version mismatch was detected (Actual:6, Expected:5)." I have migrated the migration mailbox to Exchange 2016 and checked with get-mailboxMigration* -Arbitration, I can that it was migrated to Exchange 2016 server. So far I have 3 CAS and 5 MBX on Exchange 2013 and 5 MBX+CAS on Exchange 2016, what else can be done apart from moving the migration mailbox to Exchange 2016

Hello,

I recently installed a new Windows Server 2012 R2 environment with Exchange Server 2013.

The following error occurs when i double click a user in the Exchange Admin Center:

Can't find the organizational unit that you specified. Make sure that you have typed the OU's identity correctly.

I know there is already a question about this error, but it differents from my error.

Some things i notice:

  • User Logon name: Name is specified correctly
  • DNS Suffix is missing here. I can not use the drop down menu as it is blanc.

When i click on "More options" i can see the Organizational unit without problems.

If i use the AD to create a new user, go to ECP and create new mailbox to existing user, this works without problems.

I can not update any info on the new or existing users though.

I then get the error:

Property expression "Test@" isn't valid. Valid values are: Strings that includes '@', where '@' cannot be the last character

I hope someone can help me on this one.

Update,

When i run Get-UserPrincipalNamesSuffix-OrganizationalUnit"miegrouphq.intra/users"i get back MIEGROUPHQ.intra, so it seems that works.

Unable to install one app into on-prem Exchange 2013 from AppSource

Exchange Server 2013 Enterprise CU21

We are able to install various apps via ECP successfully (Evernote, Salesforce, etc...) into our on-prem Exchange 2013 server, but there is one specific app that when we try to install it we're getting an "ERROR: The app couldn't be downloaded" message. I've tried installing this app via ECP and powershell and both give the same error message. We are able to install this app into a separate Outlook.com address.  The app vendor has not had any suggestions for troubleshooting the issue.  

At this point I don't know if this is an issue with our Exchange server, the appstore, or the app itself.

HTTP 503 error for specific users on ECP

This past weekend I installed KB4487563 on my two Exchange 2013 servers. The install went just fine (yes, I ran the MSP with full administrative privileges), however two of my admin users are now getting an HTTP 503 when trying to log in to the ECP. This is both when accessing the load balanced name and the direct server URL.

My first instinct was to check the IIS logs to see if I noticed anything out of the ordinary. I can see where my admin is getting the 503 error, but I'm having trouble deciphering if anything else is going on.

I took one of my servers out of the load balancer and removed and re-added the OWA and ECP virtual directories, but no change. I then uninstalled the security update but same, no change.

This problem is baffling me as it's only affecting two admins, everyone else can log in to the ECP just fine. Any thoughts or specific things I can look for?

How to tag internal and external email?

Hello,

As a security measure I would like to insert a tag at the top of all emails identifying them to be external or internal. Is there a way to do this with transport rules? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
