Hi All

I am seeing the below event appearing in the system log on all our Exchange 2013 servers regularly. I am not seeing any connectivity issues between any clients and the servers and no other issues have been reported at this stage.

Log Name:      System
Source:        Schannel
Date:          10/04/2015 9:21:17 AM
Event ID:      36871
Task Category: None
Level:         Error
Keywords:
User:          SYSTEM
Computer:
Description:
A fatal error occurred while creating an SSL client credential. The internal error state is 10013.

I am not sure if its related to the public certificate we are using or if its related to the one provided from the local CA.I have searched and found other links that suggest it could be related to SSL versions being disabled etc.

All servers are running Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter. The Exchange CAS servers do also sit behind a pair of F5 BIG IP Load Balancers

Any suggestions on where to look?

Thanks

Hello All,

I'm getting error ID 1026 in exchange 2013 CU7 OS2012 since the last 7 days :

User "domain\HealthMailbox91a24f9" cannot access their mailbox on Mailbox server "server name" because the user's mailbox quota has been exceeded.

I found that user in AD, but there is no mailbox associate with it. I believe this account related to exchange server. I couldn't  find any related article or troubleshooting for it. How can i solve this error.

Best Regards,

I have Exchange 2013 and I'm trying to add a shared mailbox. When I go to Recipients | Shared, a + is not displayed to add a mailbox. I have read that this was added in 2013. Any ideas on why it would not show?

Only one user is not syncing with their Exchange account, it appears that the OnPrem thinks there is no mailbox attached, while the cloud is fine.  the Fixit tool reports no anomaly, and the sync appears to be working fine.  I can find no errors.  This is my first time playing in a hybrid environment.  what should I be looking for????

We use Exchange 2010 and Office 365. I am posting here, if this is not the place to post, please move there.

When a mail is send to office 365 user with an attachment of 10 MB we get below message.

The recipient won't be able to receive this message because it's too large.

The maximum message size that's allowed is 5 MB. This message is 10 MB.

Diagnostic information for administrators:

Generating server: CASA

Office3651@domain1.com
#550 5.2.3 RESOLVER.RST.RecipSizeLimit; message too large for this recipient ##

I have followed the below article and checked the size limit.

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/22765.exchange-2013-step-by-step-email-message-size-restriction.aspx

I did not see any size limit of 5 MB anywhere.

Still I get this error message. Please let me know where else to check.

Office 365 is having 25 MB limit for users. General limit is 35 MB.

is it by behaviour ? can I remove disconnected mailboxes forcefully but it should not cause any issue in future.

please suggest.

Microsoft.Exchange.Servicehost.exe High Memory utilization

hello Everyone,

I have 4 Exchange 2013 Cu 5 server with MBX/CAS role.

On 1 server Microsoft.Exchange.Servicehost.exe utilizing around 14GB of server memory. I rebooted that server earlier when that process was using 22GB but after 3 days its back to 14Gb and increasing. CPU utilization varies from 6-10%.

Rest of the 3 servers are running normal at 150MB for the process.

the only thing I am doing right now is moving users to recover white spaces and my Arbitration DB is also on the problematic server.

any idea why I see this huge memory difference.

Internal and external no-reply address.

Hi,

Kindly let me know the steps to identify the internal reply address to mails.

Eg: When I sent a mail and then tried to call back that mail. I got a reply from a user id that the message cannot call back at this time.

The id I got mail from is another user id which is not involved in the mail chain I tried to call back.

This is something like a postmaster or noreply address. Please let me know how do I find and configure this for internal and external mails.

This is in Exchange 2010.

Exchange 2013 Issues with accessing OWA/ECP happened out of nowhere / Ran SP1 for Ex2013 / ECP and OWA worked for 24 hours now failed.

Having nothing but problems with this Exchange 2013 deployment, and its the simplest way to deploy Exchange. Single server, single domain controller, on the same box.

A few weeks ago, out of nowhere a server that was running fine, started reporting ASP errors and no access to the ECP or OWA would function.  Rebooting didn't help. Restarting IIS didn't help. Only Exchange and ADDS run on this server.

Was recommended through an Exchange 2013 forum to install SP1 to fix this issue.  That was a nightmare in itself, 18 steps, 50% of which failed one by one and had to work through those issues.  Once it completed, OWA and ECP worked again, but only for 24 hours or probably less if I  was up all day.  Now OWA works if I typehttps://ffws01/owa and login, but if I try https://ffws01/ecp I get a login prompt, then when logging in it goes 500 Internal Error.

PowerShell command Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus shows ContentIndexStatus as "Failed and..."

There are three mailbox databases, the default randomly generated one, then MBX1 and MBX2.

I am at a loss right now, and have no idea what to do with this box. Users are able to access their mailboxes though from Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013.  Just have no way of managing this server anymore.

Exchange 2013 - RBAC Read Scope

$

Hi folks,

I've created a Role Group that will allow me to give a colleague admin access to a specific subset of recipients, defined by OU.  This all worked as expected until I realised that the admin could see ALL recipients in the organisation.

After spending some time looking into the reasons why, it appears that this is defined by the "ImplicitRecipientReadScope" field in the Management Role and as this is set to "Organization", it cannot be changed.

I've tried a few things, like creating a Management Role using "MyDistributionGroups" as the parent role.  The thinking behind this was that it's "ImplicitRecipientReadScope" is set to "MyGAL", which would have worked well for me as all users I need that admin to...administer are part of the same custom GAL.

When trying to create a Role Group based on the above though, I received the following error:

"WARNING: The  database management scope won't be applied to the role assignment for the management role because this role has an implicit scope MyDistributionGroups that's smaller than the specified scope."

Does anyone know if there is a way to do what I require here?  It sounds like it should be possible and a little more straightforward than this.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Exchange 2013 public folders briefly going unavailable

$

I'm curious if anyone else has run into anything similar to this, I'm looking for a place to start investigating a little more thoroughly.

One of my clients is seeing their Exchange 2013 public folders stop working in Outlook. Users complain that Outlook says it can't open the public folders, and sometimes may just crash Outlook. Meanwhile we'll also notice queue buildups going to the PF database. Finally, we'll also notice that in EAC, the public folders view will be empty. Items in the queue to PF mailboxes will show the following error:

STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:StorageTransientException.MapiExceptionTimeout; Failed to process message due to a transient exception with message Cannot open mailbox /o=Business/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=server/cn=Microsoft System Attendant. 16.55847:7E000000,

Then all of a sudden, the public folders are back, the queues will flush out, and the folder structure in EAC is back to normal. Usually seems like it's maybe somewhere between 10-30 minutes where it's unavailable. We're trying to map out the timing a little bit, see if we can find anything we can associate it with - we do know it came up a couple times while doing DB restore jobs, but it also came up when that's NOT been happening.

The database doesn't show it's dismounted in powershell, and the application log doesn't show any issues either. For all intents and purposes, everything looks fine. We've even mounted the DB on its DAG partner, but we've seen this come up again anyway.

My only suspicion is maybe it's related to a third party application blocking access for some reason, but I'm not sure why that would happen. That said, I don't want to rule out the possibility, so if anyone has any experience with that, I'd love to hear it.

And if anyone has any suggestions on where to search for clues, I'd also love to hear that. Thanks!

Setting up a service account to access mailboxes

I have a service account setup in AD used for Dynamics 365 on-prem. This account is to pickup email and associate it to records within Dynamics according to a set of rules.

How do I give this service account permissions to the mailboxes in Exchange?  Does this account need a mailbox?  I wouldn't think so because it won't be receiving any email itself.
