Unhealth outlook HealthSet

Hi all,

Was wondering if someone might be able to shed some light on this - as i've been going around in circles :0. We have an internal+external dns name, we have a single 2010 server + single 2013 server. I've set virtualdirectory/oab etc to go to mail.* on the exchange 2013 server, set up certificates etc, recreated health mailboxes, restarted etc etc, but can't work out how to resolve the following (or even how to diagnose further):

I've replaced domain name with 'internaldns'. our external domain name doesn't appear in the event log entry - nor does our mail.externaldomain name that i've set all virtual directory paths I can find to. The health mailbox that is getting logged into is on the exchangesrv - it's one of the 10 exchangesrv-001/002 mailboxes used for the CAS.

Any thoughts?

dynamic distribution group

Hi, I have exchange server 2010 in my organization. we have 3 dynamic distribution group i.e all staff, Sydney staff and Melbourne staff.

The problem is whenever I add new email to exchange its not getting updated into the Sydney staff dynamic distribution group but gets updated in all staff dynamic distribution group. The new email I added are the users from the Sydney organization unit in ADUC and should get updated into Sydney staff dynamic distribution group.

All the previously configured email are present in the Sydney staff dynamic distribution group and can receive email.

So what should I do to make Sydney staff dynamic distribution group to automatically update users when configured.

Hi

I installed a new Exchange 2013 CU8 server in a new invironment.

In the application log I see these Error all the time.

EventID 17, 23 and 258

(Process w3wp.exe, PID 6828) "RBAC authorization returns Access Denied for user domain.net/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/Monitoring Mailboxes/HealthMailbox6abb348c643845acaee87941bd609e63. Reason: No role assignments associated with the specified user were found on Domain Controller dc.domain.net"

Anyone seen anything like this?

I tried to recreate the HealthMailboxes and it didn't fix anything.

Exchange Server 2013 Logs Out of Control

I have a fairly new install of Exchange Server 2013 running in full production. Everything has been great except for the high level of log files that are generated on a daily basis. I am able to truncate the Transaction logs everyday with a Server Backup, but that still does not help me with the other constantly growing log files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Logging. Is there any way to set these to automatically purge after a set amount of days? I have found resources that discuss setting up a powershell script that will delete everything after a set amount of days, but I want to know if anything in Exchange 2013 will allow me to do this. I am getting tired of expanding my VM disk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

High CPU - ParserServer.exe

High Everyone,

We recently migrated from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. Around 9:00 every morning, we are seeing CPU utilization go to 100% for between 2 and 10 minutes. We monitor processes during this time and it is parserserver.exe that is the culprit. We see an instance for the 4 DB's that reside on each server. The rest of the day the servers run normally between 30-50% CPU utilization. During this time when the CPU's are pegged, we have some client connectivity issues.

We are running Exchange 2013 SP1 with CU7

We have provided Perfmon information to Microsoft but wondered if anyone else has run into this?

I can't to disable a responder on Exchange Server 2013

Hello; i have a problema with continuos restart of a Exchange Server 2013.

Analizing the dumb the bugcheck was: 0x000000ef (0xffffe001c4228080, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000).

Investigating in this fórums and internet; i found that reboot cause from ActiveDirectoryConnectivityServerReboot responder. Whit this query:

(Get-WinEvent -LogName Microsoft-Exchange-ManagedAvailability/* | % {[XML]$_.toXml()}).event.userData.eventXml| ?{$_.ActionID -like "*ForceReboot*"} | ft RequesterName

ActiveDirectoryConnectivityServerReboot

This Exchange 2013 server is in CU7

Name      AdminDisplayVersion
----      -------------------
EXC01   Version 15.0 (Build 1044.25)

And then i tried to add a global monitoring override to disable the ActiveDirectoryConnectivityServerReboot responder

Add-GlobalMonitoringOverride -Identity Exchange\ActiveDirectoryConnectivityServerReboot -ItemType Responder -PropertyName Enabled -PropertyValue 0 -ApplyVersion “15.0.1044.25”

The before command end without errors

But when a try to query the status of the responder propertie; show enable.

(Get-WinEvent -LogName Microsoft-Exchange-ActiveMonitoring/responderdefinition | % {[XML]$_.toXml()}).event.userData.eventXml | ?{$_.Name -like “ActiveDirectoryConnectivityServerReboot"} | ft name,enabled

Name                                                                       Enabled

---------                                                                   --------------------------

ActiveDirectoryConnectivityServerReboot                        1

Why i can't to disable that responder? what i am doing wrong?

please help me. Thank you very much.

Database restore using RDB

Hi,

we have Exchange 2010 Enterprise. We have FOUR mailbox servers and four databases in two DAGs

DAG01 is in servers MBX01 and MBX02 having DB01 and DB02

DAG02 is in servers MBX03 and MBX04 having DB13 and DB14

while configuring the recovery database, can I restore DB01(from DAG01) to an RDB disk space on Server MBX03 (part of DAG02)

I mean, is there any restriction like, the database to be restored to the same DAG member mailbox servers only ?

thanks and regards

Can't enable mailbox audit logs

Hello!

I can't enable mailbox audit logs. I use cmdlet Set-Mailbox -Identity "mailbox" -AuditEnabled $true and Get-Mailbox shows that audit is enabled. But when i check Get-Mailbox| Get-MailboxFoldersStatistics there is no "Audit" subfolder, and all audit searches also return no results.

I am working now with several Exchange installations (five actually, and one is brand-new test lab) and checked the same in each organization. Result was the same!

I am stronly sure i miss something important, could you point it to me?

Introducing first 2012R2 DC to network which already has Exchange 2013 SP1 running

I have a small network with one 2008 DC and 2 2003 DCs. I have existing Exchange 2013 SP1 on a 2012 R2 member server. I want to install a new 2012 R2 DC and demote/decommission the old 2003 DCs. This is a single site.

Everything I have read says that the Exchange 2013 SP server and 2012 R2 DC should be compatible together. Are there any gotcha's i should be concerned with when i promote the 2012 R2 server to a DC?

Hello,

We have in our organization few mailboxes (Exchange 2010) which are enabled for Litigation Hold for a purpose. Now since we are moving to Exchange 2013, need to understand what happens to those mailboxes after migration.

Prevent user or users from deleting emails in Outlook or OWA?

Checks prior to mailbox deletion

Hello,

There are a number of mailboxes within our organisation that can be removed from Exchange. At present, mailbox databases are backed up each evening.

For the selected mailboxes, we will be keeping the AD user objects, it's just their mailboxes that we're trashing.

If for any reason a mailbox needs to be recovered following this, will it be possible to restore/reattach mailbox data from a backup?

Many thanks.

MSExchangeMailboxAssistants high CPU usage, performance degradation

$

We are running two Exchange 2013 CU7 CAS/MBX servers. On both servers we see once a day a CPU spike caused by the MSExchangeMailboxAssistants:

We are seeing this spike on both servers (both servers have 2 active databases en 2 passive databases). The problem is that during this spike users are experiencing performance problems with their Outlook client.

As far as I understand the Mailbox Assistance is kind of black box process which can be configured and should only run when it doesn't affect the performance. However, for us this theory doesn't match real life.

When I look in the eventviewer I see the following related events (about 300 on each server):

Information3/17/2015 18:31MSExchangeMailboxAssistants25001-25The people relevance feeder for mailbox /o=Organization/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (RXDIAEHF18SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=J.Doe picked 3 sent items to process. Number of sent items successfully processed 3 and number of sent items failed to be processed 0. Total time taken to process this mailbox 408.9071.

Can someone explain what kind of maintenance is performed and how I should interpret the events? The time, is it 408 milliseconds or seconds? Is there a way I can limit or tune the MSExchangeMailboxAssistants process?

Search function for Outlook 2013 and OWA keeps failing

Any idea what may be causing this? A restart of the Exchange Search and Exchange Search Host Controller services seems to resolve the issue for a short while, before search functions within both Outlook 2013 and OWA seem to fail again for all users.

Prepare Exchange 2010 for a Major Network Outage

$

We are planning to replace our Core networking switch in our production environment. I am looking for a best practice option for Exchange to be placed into during this outage. This will be an approximate four hour outage.

Our current environment for Exchange is this:

Exchange 2010 SP3 rollup 8v2 two CAS servers and Three MBX/HT servers.

I read a few articles and they recommended different things, one was to just power down all of the exchange servers before the outage and then bring them back up after the outage. To me this just seems like a bad idea. The other was to put the MBX servers into maintenance mode prior to shutting them down. This seemed more practical.

Can anyone provide feedback, insight, and guidance in this case? Has anyone gone through this type of outage and if so how did you handle your exchange environment and what was your success or failures with the scenario you used?

Thank you

Exchange 2013 - Back Pressure due to Large Attachment

$

Setup: 3 clustered, database availability group Exchange 2013 servers running on Windows Server 2012 R2 (fully up to date)

Problem:

Our mail queue starts stacking up with error: 4.3.1 Insufficient system resources

I pulled out the transport log and found that once this error started happening a user was attempting to send a large file (400mb +) via Outlook 2013 as an attachment. Our send connector is configured to allow a generous 35mb maximum to message size. Why are my servers going into back pressure when technically the users message should be rejected immediately for breaking the send connector size rule? Or does Exchange have to process the file before rejecting it which is eating up my memory or disk space?

This has happened twice now due to users trying to send large files by Outlook 2013. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I'm going through my Exchange Server's logs and checking out warnings and errors, and I haven't been able to find anything helpful on this one in the application log of the Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual machine running Exchange Server 2013 SP1 only:

Event ID 1005 warning, source MSExchangeDiagnostics

The performance counter '\\<ServerName>\Processor(_Total)\% Processor Time' sustained a value of '85.73', for the '5' minute(s) interval starting at '4/3/2015 10:40:00 AM'. Additional information:

I'd appreciate any insight into what this warning is telling me and what I need to do to resolve the causing issue.  Thanks!
