Unable to delete user object

Dear Exchange Server Expert,

I am currently using Windows Server 2008 R2 as AD server and Our exchange is Microsoft Exchange 2010 SP1. Currently, I am trying to delete the user account that has just resigned. However, I am unable to delete it. Below are the steps of deletion that I tried to perform:

1. Disable the resigned user account (Only Disable not Remove).

2. Go to AD Server and try to delete the AD Account that belong to that specific user. However, it was failed and it mentions that there is exchange activesync that still attached to that user account. Please refer to the picture below. I know that those users were having their exchange email being installed before in their mobile devices. how to get rid of them?

3. I also check and confirm that there is no setting to prevent accidental deletion being configured.

4. To double confirm about the existence of exchange activesync account, I tried to view the AD as the containers and found that there are active sync device that attached to this user account. However, I am not able to delete it.

is there any procedures that I need to do before able to delete users account?

Room Mailbox - Reoccuring Appointments?

I have created a "Room Mailbox" and when users try to setup reoccurring appointments, it won’t let them set it up without an end date or limits you to 180 days; they would prefer an unlimited date.  Is this possible?

My Calendars - where is a calendar located?

There is a department that shows a calendar in Outlook under "My Calendars" called "Conference_Room PW" and I'm trying to find out where it is located.  When I hover over it, it shows "Exchange Server". But when I look on the server in EAC under Public Folders/Public Folders or Recipients/Resource it isn't there. 

How can I find out where it is located?

Missing Performance Queue collection for Exchange 2013 Edge Servers

I have SCOM 2012 SP1 with UR8 with the latest Exchange 2013 management pack. I have a number of Edge Transport servers detected from the 'Servers by Role' dashboard of the management pack.

The issue I have is that none of these servers are collecting queue information from 'Queues' dashboard under the performance folder. Documentation of the latest MP states it  "Fixed a bug that was preventing discovery of Exchange 2013 on Edge servers in DMZ", which is my situation but still no queue performance collected. Any advice?

Exchange 2013 disable quota messages

Hi

We need to enable quotas on an Exchange 2013 system to allow an archiving product to base the archiving rules on percentage of quota size.

But we do not want users to be sent email warnings about reaching quotas. Can this be done by just amending the schedule (default daily at 1.00am) to a custom schedule but do not choose a time ?

Or is there some other way to disable this ?

In Exchange 2010 this worked quite well for us. But Exchange 2013 sends the quota warning message even when the schedule is set to null.

How to Remove one user from Multiple Mailboxes instead of going into "Manage Full Access Permissions" on all accounts one by one.

any PowerShell cmd's?

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Exchange 2013:  2 x multi-role in one DAG - on-premise

Performing remote mailbox migration using internet (*non-exchange web-based  tool*), to ship data from cloud Ex2010 server to Ex013 on-premise.

Have multiple failures when doing the mailbox data copy - my migration tool error code tells me that:

This error indicates that we were unable to authenticate to the source or destination mailbox and retrieve a list of folders when given 15 minutes to complete these operations. This may be because the source or destination is unusually slow, has a very large number of folders, or due to "hanging" networking calls.

Some mailboxes are copying, but around 80% are not.  Checked all permissions and other factors.

I see in the System event log the following below:

Using Hyper-V to setup Exchange and DC on a single machine for Testing Environment

I'm new to Exchange, and AD Admin as well as to using Powershell for both. That being the case I want to set up an off-network test environment with a copy of our company's DC and Exchange databases to test Powershell commands and such before running them in production.

I have a physical server at my disposal that has more than enough resources to handle the VM's. I know that it's a bad idea to install Exchange and the DC on the same machine in production, but is there any reason why it would be a bad idea in a test environment?

If so, does anyone have a recommendation for how I can setup a suitable, noob-friendly environment without using the VM's in the way I'm thinking?

Good day!

We are in the process of exporting user mailboxes to pst using Exchange. So far using Exchange Management Shell the following tasks have been completed:

1. Given"Mailbox Import Export" Role Assignment to the user.

2. Created a shared folder "PST" and given "Exchange Trusted Subsystem" Read/Write permissions.

3. Next from EMS, I'll enter command "New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox user -FilePath \\mail\pst\user.pst .  

After the cmdlet is entered, I get an error as follows:

--"The operation couldn't be performed because object 'user' couldn't be found on 'DC_Name.domain'. 

--FullyQualifiedErrorId: 2020bd30,Microsoft.Exchange.management.ReciepentTasks.NewMailboxExportRequest.

Note: 'DC_name' is currently set as the Domain Controller of the Root Level Domain.  The user account exists in a sub-domain.

Please help how to go about it with this situation.

Can you put a size quota on a single folder in a user's mailbox

I have a request from a customer to create a custom folder in everyone's mailbox (no problem) and then to apply a size limit to the folder. This is not a public folder but just a normal folder that users can drop a certain type of email into. They are using Office 365/Exchange Online.

how to remove the last Exchange 2010 mailbox server

i used ADSI edit to remove the hub servers and the other mailbox server that have no mounted database (before it was shutdown).

now only remaining is the last mailbox server where in ECP, it appears with mailboxes of unknown state. also, the DAG list shows this mailbox as the only remaining member of the old DAG (i have another DAG for Exchange 2013).

do i use the same steps i did with ADSI edit in removing the other Exchange 2010 servers?

Failed to load the migration item with id

On a new Exchange 2013 on premise with SP1 CU9, created a new database and moved the arbitration mailboxes from the "Mailbox Database xxxxxx" onto another database on the same server.

Removed the Mailbox Database xxxxxx and restarted the server.

When I click on Migration in the EAC, I get the message:

Mailbox Server using High Memory

Hi,

We have an Exchange organization with 2 CAS and 2 Mailbox Servers. Mailbox servers have 32 GB RAM. The issue is that one database was mounted on Mailbox Server (MBX1), and there were hardly 50 users in that database but Mailbox Server was taking 75% RAM. This happens to all mailbox servers that RAM usage is  high on every mailbox server. All servers are Exchange 2013.

Can you please suggest something about this issue?

my setup is 2 node DAG with 16 Databases

suddenly one of the node information store stopped and database went to failed and suspended state

Time Spent Administering Exchange per Week

How many hours per week, on average, does it take to administer Microsoft Exchange 2013? I run a mid-size company & my IT staff is considering moving to Exchange from another email platform. Any real-world metrics would be helpful. Thanks!

Exchange 2013 - relocating MessageTrackingLog directory

I used Powershell to move my messagetrackinglog directory to a partition where I can retain a larger history. The process I used was:
- copy files to new location
  robocopy oldlocation newlocation
- disable tracking
  Set-TransportService <servername> -MessageTrackingLogEnabled $false
- recopy files to new location in case some files were locked first time
  robocopy oldlocation newlocation
- set the new path
  Set-TransportService <servername> -MessageTrackingLogPath "E:\TransportRoles\Logs\MessageTracking"
- re-enable tracking with increased size settings
  Set-TransportService $cn -MessageTrackingLogEnabled $true -MessageTrackingLogMaxAge 365 -MessagetrackinglogMaxDirectorySize 75GB

After this is completed, I verified tracking is working with several get-messagetrackinglogs with the start parameter set to the last minute. I went to delete the files from the old location, and cannot delete the most current MSGTRKDyyyymmdd file. All other files do successfully delete. Watching the old directory, I see that the "D" series of logs is still populating to the old directory!

What did I miss that this log file is still writing to the old location?

HI,

Some users are getting below error when sending mails to external accounts. we have exchnage 2010 and issue occurs only when sending mails outside the org.

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

      'abc@xyz.com' on 6/7/2013 11:20 AM
            This message could not be sent. Try sending the message again later, or contact your network administrator.  Error is [0x80004005-00000000-00000000].

Some articles i found were pointing to max. recipients limits issue. But the issue happens even when sending mail to a single recipient ( SO i guess this is not the issue here ). Also mails are going out fine when sent throught through OWA.
Recreation of outlook cache profile also seems to resolve the issue.

Bing Maps Not Working

We're getting ready to migrate users into Exchange 2013, from 2010, and everything seems to work fine except Bing Maps. The other apps that I've tried seem to work, but when Bing Maps detects an address in an email, you click the button, and it says "We think we're found an address" (or addresses), then it pans to the right and says "There was an error contacting Bing Maps. Please try again later." Since I've set up the server, I've never done any configuring of this, or any other, app, so is there something I'm missing? Is there a log somewhere I could check? What could possibly be the problem?

EX2010 Multi-Mailbox Search on Recovery DB help

I have been tasked with a Data Protection request and need to find any emails relating to a certain user of a period of time.  This includes restoring and searching the oldest copies of all our Exchange databases.  So far I have restored one database into a RDB.  The Exchange Search Indexer has completed its crawl of the RDB and I have a CatalogData folder in the same location as the RDB.

Questions:

When performing a Multi-mailbox search, does the database have to be mounted?

When performing a Multi-mailbox search, will items within the RDB be included?

Is it possible to perform Multi-Mailbox searches against single databases?

missing db in queue

i'm looking at the queue viewer and in the "Next Hop Domain" column, it shows all my mailbox databases except the new one i created.

i have already moved several mailboxes to this new database and i'm just worried if they'll be able to send/receive emails since i cannot see the new database in the queue viewer (nope i can't send test email and expect a reply because those i have moved are on vacation; i, however, have sent a test email to one anyway).

i used the browser-based ECP to create the new database and add created a database copy for it. i have also restarted the information store service on the server where i initially created the database.

is there anything missing in the steps? why isn't the new database showing in the queue viewer?
