We went from Exchange 2003 to 2007 on a totally separate box. During migration, some users were shown as legacy mailboxes. They are pointing to the old server. This old server (Windows SBS 2003) has been decommissioned and exchange has
been completely removed from the server. I was able to look through the files and find a large EDB file which I believe houses these legacy mailboxes. This EDB file is not mounted at all. They reside in an archived folder which may
have been created from another administrator for backup purposes. How can I go about pointing these users to this file or possible exporting the contents of the EDB file. I'm not trying to spend any money on 3rd party software. I figured
there must be a way to point to this file and/or mount it to our existing exchange server.

Clearing log files - Exchange 2013
Hi,
looking for a advice regarding logs. My 90GB exchange system drive is getting edged on storage space and I found out there is a 31GB log folder V15 with various sub-folders.
For example, there is ..\Exchange Server\V15\Logging\ContactChangeLogging [4.4GB], full of years old *.LOG files, is it safe to move or delete all of these logs or let's say, all that are month+ older?
Is there any best practice or common tip in general how to handle excessive amount of logs? What's a safe headroom of storage on system drive? Currently i've got 20GB free out of 90GB. Having lesser makes me somewhat uncomfortable.
So far I am taking care just of the IIS logs from inetpub.

Is there any tool or script to export shared mailbox permissions to csv file?
I have used below command but this is creating multiple rows for each entry of every mailbox. Is it possible to arrange all permissions in single row for each mailbox.

We have an issue with user mailbox quota in exchange 2013
user mailbox is empty but frequently get error " your email quota has reached 98% ..." in user OWA and outlook .
-its happen to just one of the user mailbox

Cannot browse AD from Exchange 2013 ECP
Hello,
I can no longer browse AD from the Exchange 2013 ECP when creating a user or a dynamic distribution group. The list is empty.
We have less than 500 OU's so editing the web.config as mentionned in other forums does not apply.
Anyone knows what can cause this issue?

Does anyone know how to translate this mailbox ?

Microsoft Exchange Transport service terminated unexpectedly
Hello,
We had an issue on Exchange Server 2013.
Apparently, the Microsoft Exchange Transport service terminated and restarted by itself, causing a disservice.
This is what appeared in Event Viewer:
13:31:53 "The Microsoft Exchange Transport service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 5000 milliseconds: Restart the service."
13:31:58 "The Service Control Manager tried to take a corrective action (Restart the service) after the unexpected termination of the Microsoft Exchange Transport service, but this action failed with the following error:
An instance of the service is already running."
13:32:00 The Microsoft Exchange Transport service entered the running state.
Can you help us to understand why happened this?

Restore of log files
Hi,
I have an exchange server which have been running for a long time, without any backup (yes I know...), and as a result of this there is a huge amount of log files in my mailbox directory.
I'm about to set up a backup routine that will also truncate those logs.
But, the question is: Is it possible to use those logs to restore mailboxes in this database to a state back in time? Could I restore log files up to e.g. 2 years ago, and then have all mailboxes stored in this database as they were 2 years ago? Is this
a way to restore old deleted mails for mailboxes in this database?

Prepending word "External" to Subject line by transport rules
Hi,
We are prepending\stamping a word "External" to Subject line by transport rules for all emails received from outside of organisation. The problem is that whenever the same mail is replied and received, It is again getting stamped. Can some one help me if we can avoid this by checking if the subject line has already the word external it should be ignored and should not get again stamped.

Mailbox migration fails (+ other issues)
Hi all,
We have an environment With 6 Exchange 2016 servers, where 2 was added recently (setup in own DAG and own mailbox database). Stuff such as mailflow and free/busy between them are working fine, but these are not working (both GUI and PowerShell):
1. Get database info on the New environment (when logged in to old environment), such as:
Get-MailboxDatabase -Server NewExchangeServer1 -Status | fl name,last*backup
The error generated is:
WARNING: Couldn't get the last backup time of database "New-Database1".
WARNING: Exchange can't get the size and the available space of the database "New-Database1".
WARNING: Couldn't get worker process info for database "New-Database1".
2. Mailbox migration from old to New environment
New-MoveRequest -Identity Test.User@domain.com -TargetDatabase "MBX-MD09"
The error generated is:
Failed to communicate with the mailbox database.
+ CategoryInfo : ResourceUnavailable: (:) [New-MoveRequest], MailboxOfflineException
Strangely, if we do the opposite (running PowerShell on the New server to get info of the old server and migrate mailbox from New server to old server), everything is working fine.
Repadmin /replsummary and repadmin /showrepl shows fine in both Exchange environment. Only one AD site available.
Not sure where to troublehsoot NeXT.
Any ideas?

Output Lists to a file
Hello,
How can I output my whitelists, IP Addresses, blacklists, etc to a file? Can someone post the powershell cmdlet for me?
I know to view the blocked ip's I use this: Get-IPBlockListEntry
What would I add to output that to ipblocklist.txt?
Is it the same cmdlet for all your lists?

"Import-Module ActiveDirectory" directives. We are upgrading to Windows Server 2016 Standard for our domain servers; however remain on Exchange 2013 for the time being. Since Exchange 2013 is not compatible with Server 2016 we are unable to install the Exchange 2013 Management Shell.
My question, is it possible to execute Powershell commands from the Exchange 2016 Management Shell on 2013 Exchange server by using the "Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.Snapin"

How to remove previous Federation Gateway Certificate
Our team recently renewed our Federation Gateway certificate which is working. However, we now have the old certificate that is still on our Exchange servers but has expired. When we try to remove the expired certificate, we get an error. We issued the PowerShell command "Get-FederationTrust | Select Org*Certificate" and we can see that the old certificate Thumbprint is listed in theOrgPrevPrivCertificate field. We have searched through TechNet, but have not found any procedure that describes how to remove the old certificate after it has been replaced with a new certificate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've installed Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2012 and it reported as successfully installed. I see no issues with Exchange Setup Logs.
On trying to connect to Exchange Management Shell I receive errors and I am unable to connect.

Retention policy- item expired but not deleted, how to force remove expired items

we have Exchange 2013 and created one new Retention policy with tag to remove items older then 1 day.
However, i see in my Outlook that policy is applied, and have note saying:

Exchange 2010 Remove SMTP address from all of the mailbox
Hi,
I have removed a accepted domian from
ADEdit
- CN=Default Policy,CN=Recipient Policies,CN=Domian,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=domian,DC=local
- gatewayProxy
and then remove it from
- EMC/Organization Config/Accepted Domian
Which is remove successfully
Then run following command on EMC consol
- Set-EmailAddressPolicy "Default Policy"
Then went to EMC/Organization Config/Email Address Policies -> right click on policy and click on apply.
After doing all that to update SMTP address on all mailboxs.
i can still see domian which doesnt not existed in our environment. how do I remove any smtp address related to xyz.com and abc.com

This permission only applies to the Inbox folders. How to apply the same permission to all the sub folders in a mailbox?
