I am getting SCOM alerts for an expiring certificate in Exchange 2013 starting at 90 days.  Is there any way to edit the threshold for this so that I get the alerts for a different time period?  Something like 30 days?

Ehlo options did not match: critical non-matchin option is

Hello,

Every other day at 6 am (GMT +1) our exchange server generates an error in the global monitoring event log. I have tried overriding the probe using both add-serveroverride and add-globaloverride to disable this probe/monitor, but it keeps returning.

I have checked maxsize on all connectors and they all match.

Regards,

Exchange 2013 Send as and ms-Exch-Public-Delegates Permissions

Hello All,

I have a problem in exchange 2013, administrators accounts (Domain Admins, Entreprise Admins and Organization Management) can send as anyone in the organization even an admin can send as another admin and this is the default behaviour of exchange because i did not change anything,

can anyone explain how to deny anyone to send as anyone unless he had explicit permission to do so?

You do not have the permission to send the message on behalf of the specified user

Running Exchange 2013 Standard on premise. I've done this before and it worked.

I'm getting this error:

You do not have the permission to send the message on behalf of the specified user

In the EAC gui I created a no-reply@domain.com mailbox. I ran the script and added my admin group to the have full access area for this mailbox. Using the gui I added myself to the mailbox delegation and Send As and Send on behalf areas. Its not working when I try to send from no-reply@domain.com to someone else. I get the error above. What am I missing? Running Office 2013. Do I need to use an exchange power script to be added to these areas or is the gui OK? I have others that are setup this way and they work. This no-reply does not. Please advise?

How do you clear a health monitor?

$

I just added CU13 to my Exchange 2013 deployment. It overwrote the web.config for Instant Messaging.  That caused the Health Monitor "OWA.Protocol.Dep" to become unhealthy.

I have since repaired the web.config and verified that IM is working through OWA.

I would like the health status to change but it hasn't since yesterday.  How do you make a monitor either test again to show healthy or clear it to show healthy?

I can't really find anything that tells me this in days of searching on the internet.  So far I'm guessing clear event logs which sucks.

Exchange 2013 Security Groups

Since upgrading to Exchange 2013 from 2007 I see that admin rights come from membership in the management role groups, such as Organization Management. However, I also see that the legacy groups, such as Exchange Organization Administrators and Exchange Recipient Administrators still exist in the Microsoft Exchange Security Groups container in AD.

Are those groups still needed and, if so, what are they used for?

Thank you.

Sharing Calendar of Users in a Security Group

Hello all,

I have around 25 users currently in a mail enabled security group and we are trying to find a way to share the calendars of all users to join this group with another user.

I tried the general user to user sharing command of

Add-MailboxFolderPermission –Identity securitygroup@company.com:\Calendar  -AccessRight Editor -User headhoncho@company.com

This gave an error that I was expecting that the "Specified mailbox 'securitygroup@company.com' doesn't exist."

I know I can do a get-adgroupmember securitygroup to parse the users in the group, but I do not know how to forward the results of that over to the Add-MailboxFolderPermission command.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi guys!

I'm trying give ready-only permission to some users in a shared-mailbox (all folders), however, I received a error message when I run the following powershell command:

Add-MailboxPermission -Identity SHAREDMAILBOX -User 'USER' -AccessRights Reviewer -InheritanceType All -AutoMapping $true

Message error:

A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'InheritanceType'.
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [Add-MailboxFolderPermission], ParameterBindingException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : NamedParameterNotFound,Add-MailboxFolderPermission
    + PSComputerName        : outlook.office365.com

Also, I need show this shared-mailbox automatically in OWA of all users, it's possible?

Thank you!

Is there any way to restrict a user's access to his own mailbox: for instance, could the сontacts folder be made readonly for the owner?

When Enabling in-place archiving, mailbox size is not reduced

$

Hi,

We have an On-Premise Exchange 2013 Enterprise edition with Version 15.0. Recently, we came across an issue that some users have large mailboxes (20 - 40 GB) so we decided to enable the in-place archiving on these particular user mailboxes. We set up another Database were to move to all items that are going to be archived. We set up a retention tag that items older 2 years will be moved o this archive mailbox.

When enabling the In-place archive on a user, the archive mailbox is being created and after a while emails are successfully being moved to it as well. it is even showing on our user's Outlook and everyday emails are being moved automatically.

The issue that we came across now is that it seems that the users' primary mailbox size is still remaining the same (and increasing daily). It seems that the space of the items that were moved to the archive mailbox is still being present in the primary mailbox and not being reclaimed.

Is there a way on how can we reclaim back the freely available space of the moved items?

Thanks.

Problems after a reboot.

Hi

First of all, excuse my poor english.

I've a Exchange 2013 over Windows 2008 R2, it has been working well until today. My SSL certificate expired  yesterday and I ask StartSSL for issue a new one. They sent me and I installed it on my server without problems. After that, I'd the great idea of restart my server. All the service started after the reboot but when I tried to access to OWA, I got a "connection reset" error. Then I tried to retrieve my mail using Thunderbird and I got an error like this "Can't access to your IMAP Server. Please check availabililty". I've checked that all the MS Exchange Services are running.

I also tried to open OWA from server's browser using 127.0.0.1:444/owa but I got something like this: Could not load file or assembly "Microsoft.Exhcange.OwaUrlModule, Version=15.0.0.0, Culture=neutral. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded". I've checked too my Systems Logs and I saw a warning "WAS": A process serving apllication pool "MSExchangeAutodiscoverAppPool" suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Services.

Actually I'm installing MS Exchange CU13, wishing it helps, but if it isn't, does anyone an idea of whats happening? All these after a simple reboot :(

Thanks!

Problem with new-TestCasConnectivityUser in Exchange 2013

Hi,

I am creating a new monitoring test user using the script new-TestCasConnectivityUser.ps1 and the user got created. I checked for the user in Active Directory and mailbox in Exchange both were present, even then the cmdlets to check the connectivity reports like Test-WebserviceConnectivity throwing error that the "test user is not accessible and try creating a new user by running the script" . Evan after trying many times the same issue persists. Are there any fix or work around to solve the issue ?

Thanks in advance.

Grant Create/Delete permissions for all OU's user's Calendars WITHOUT continually maintaining a list

$

I wrote an external application that needs permissions to Create/Delete items on all user's Calendars (that belong to a specific OU).

The application connects to Exchange 2013 by invoking EWS web service methods such CreateItem/DeleteItem/etc.

Furthermore, it authenticates against EWS 2013 with a single user. I need to grant this user the above mentioned permissions to all those calendars.

HOWEVER, this OU is constantly changing, adding/removing members, etc. I am trying to avoid doing this through a Security Group which I have to constantly maintain to make sure it's up to date.
