deleting items from formerly configured litigation hold mailbox

Hi all,

I hope you can help

We have a mailbox exceeding it's limits in litigation hold and we are looking to delete some of the emails. We've had sign off from legal etc  we know litigation hold has a purpose and this shouldn't be done in utopia :) Alas, utopia is being a bit elusive today :D

I am trying something along these lines:

Set-Mailbox dave@email.com -LitigationHoldEnabled $false

Search-Mailbox -Identity "dave smith" -SearchQuery 'Subject:"email subject in here"' -IncludeFolders“\Deleted Items” –DeleteContent

Set-Mailbox dave@email.com -LitigationHoldEnabled $true

I am not sure if this will clear out litigation hold data as well?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated
