How to Check/Verify Effective Retention Policy on Non-Message Folders

We are seeing inconsistency between our expectations and the actual results when it comes to how retention tags/policies are applied to non-message folders. We are on Exchange 2013 CU12. Policies tags assigned are:

  • DPT is 90 days, followed by recoverable deletion.
  • Calendar RPT is 540 days, followed by recoverable deletion
  • Tasks and Notes RPTs are retention-disabled (should keep forever, right?)

We are seeing the 90-day DPT being applied to all folders, including Calendar, Tasks, and Notes.  We don't want that.  If anything about the policy configuration above would not yield the expected results of keeping appointments, tasks, and notes stored in their default folders beyond the 90-day mark then tell me what it could be.

On any mail/message folder I can check its effective policy through Outlook, and I can view message expiration information by opening the message and looking below the header.  I do not know how to check policy or view expiration information on Tasks/Notes/Appointments.

Does anyone have a way to check the actual applied policy and expiration for these items?
