Hi,
We have an On-Premise Exchange 2013 Enterprise edition with Version 15.0. Recently, we came across an issue that some users have large mailboxes (20 - 40 GB) so we decided to enable the in-place archiving on these particular user mailboxes. We set up another Database were to move to all items that are going to be archived. We set up a retention tag that items older 2 years will be moved o this archive mailbox.
When enabling the In-place archive on a user, the archive mailbox is being created and after a while emails are successfully being moved to it as well. it is even showing on our user's Outlook and everyday emails are being moved automatically.
The issue that we came across now is that it seems that the users' primary mailbox size is still remaining the same (and increasing daily). It seems that the space of the items that were moved to the archive mailbox is still being present in the primary mailbox and not being reclaimed.
Is there a way on how can we reclaim back the freely available space of the moved items?
Thanks.
