I have a Single Exchange Server With 2 Databases. I cannot get a full backup where the Tran Logs are purged on DB1 and DB2. Due to drive space a few weeks ago I shutdown the Exchange services, verified clean shutdown state copied everything to NAS and then purged logs. Added Raid 1 and moved DB1 to drive E: Had issues mounting the DB but finally got it to mount. DB2 failed to move to drive E. Ran out of time and left it on original Drive D:
Currently, both databases are in the Clean Shutdown State and the Log Required is 0-0 Since the move to drive E: DB1 has no record of a previous backup. DB2 previous backup is 12/10/2015. I have multiple manual copies of the Logs and DBs on a NAS as a backup. In the live server the Tran logs are not in sequence for both DBs due to the purge and recovering DB1 from the failed mount after the move. So???? How can I fix this mess? 1) If I enable Circular Logging on each DB will it purge the logs when they are out of sequence? 2) Can I turn on Circular Logging for a day and when the logs clear turn it back off and go back to normal backups where the logs are cleared by the backup? Will that reset the sequence? 3) Do I create new databases and move the mailboxes to the new databases?
Thanks!!!
